The venues that define an Udaipur wedding sit on islands, on lake shores, on hilltops, and in the narrow lanes of the old city. Most of them are not accessible by road in the conventional sense.
A destination wedding in Udaipur draws guests from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and international cities. 300 to 500 people arriving at a single airport over two days, dispersing across hotels in the old city and the lake corridor, and converging on multiple venues at precise moments across a three to four day programme. The transport operation that holds this together is not a side logistics detail. It is the event’s invisible infrastructure.

Every major venue in Udaipur has a specific access challenge. Here is the ground transport reality at each one and how we manage it.
Taj Lake Palace sits on Jag Niwas Island in the middle of Lake Pichola. All guest movement ends at the Bansi Ghat jetty on the eastern shore. Ground transport for a Taj Lake Palace wedding means getting every guest — 300 to 600 people — to the correct jetty point, at the correct time, in a sequence that matches the hotel’s boat transfer schedule. A mismatch means guests waiting at the pier while the event has already begun. We time every vehicle arrival to the boat departure sequence and manage the flow without bottleneck.
The Oberoi Udaivilas is accessed via a dedicated approach road along the Lake Pichola shoreline — motorable, but narrow and one way in sections during events. We manage the vehicle entry sequence, coordinate with the Oberoi’s own ground team on drop timing, and handle the inter-venue transfers when the wedding programme splits across The Oberoi and an island venue for different functions. For weddings that include both Taj Lake Palace and The Oberoi across the programme, we plan the cross-venue guest movement as a single coordinated operation.
Jagmandir, like Taj Lake Palace, is accessed exclusively by boat from the Lal Ghat and Bansi Ghat area. For weddings that use Jagmandir as the primary ceremony venue, the ground transport operation involves staging vehicles across multiple ghat points to distribute the guest arrival flow and prevent a single point bottleneck. For weddings that alternate between Jagmandir and a shoreside hotel across the programme, we coordinate the transition timing so guests move between island and shore without extended waits at either end.
The Leela Palace Udaipur sits on the Lake Pichola eastern shore with a standard vehicle approach — the only major lake facing property with direct motorable access. This makes The Leela the natural hub for multi-venue Udaipur weddings. Guests can be transferred directly to the hotel between functions, and the transport operation from The Leela to island venues via the nearby jetty is well established. For weddings that use The Leela as the primary accommodation base with functions at Taj Lake Palace or Jagmandir, we manage the hotel to jetty shuttle as a continuous operation across the programme days.
Raas Devigarh is a restored 18th century palace in Delwara village, 28 km northeast of Udaipur city on the NH 48 and Nathdwara road. The approach is not difficult for drivers who know the route, but it is the kind of journey where an unfamiliar driver will lose time, miss the village turn off, or add 20 minutes to every shuttle. For weddings at Devigarh, we assign drivers who know the specific approach road, the palace gate, and the service entrance. We also manage the daily Udaipur city to Devigarh shuttle for guests not staying at the property.
City Palace sits at the heart of Udaipur’s old city — surrounded by pedestrian lanes, heritage structures, and vehicle access restrictions. The palace’s main gate approach is accessible, but the surrounding lanes are not suitable for convoy movement or large vehicle staging. Events at City Palace require vehicle staging at the designated approach points and a clear pedestrian to vehicle handoff zone for arriving and departing guests. For baraat processions that approach City Palace through the old city, the route is planned to navigate the accessible approach roads rather than the pedestrian only historic lanes.

We stage vehicles at Maharana Pratap Airport, organised by arrival batch, and coordinate the transfer to each guest’s hotel — old city properties, lake corridor hotels, and Devigarh for those staying at the venue.

Daily shuttles from every guest hotel to the event venue across the three to four day programme. Mehendi, sangeet, wedding ceremony, and reception. Each function has a departure sequence timed from the event start, with vehicles staged and loaded to ensure no function begins with empty seats.
Separate shuttle sequences for family, guests, and VIPs where required.
For Taj Lake Palace and Jagmandir events, all ground transport terminates at the designated jetty — Bansi Ghat or Lal Ghat. We coordinate vehicle arrival timing with the venue’s boat transfer schedule, distribute guests across the available ghat loading points, and manage the return journey after late night functions end.

The baraat procession in Udaipur — whether from the groom’s hotel to a palace venue or through the old city — requires convoy planning that accounts for Udaipur’s narrow heritage lanes and the vehicle access restrictions around the old city core. We plan the route, brief every driver, and manage the procession flow in real time.
